Popular EVs you could check out before buying your first electric two-wheeler

Electric mobility has pretty much become a buzzword in today’s two-wheeler market. From low ownership cost to a truckload of features, entry-level two-wheeler buyers are slowly weighing in towards the electric scooter/bike market. And if you too are out for the same, here are some of the popular B2C EVs that you should check out. 

Ather 450X

The Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker, Ather, has been around for a while now and currently offers two models in its portfolio: 450X and 450 Plus. Both models feature the same design but differ in terms of performance and tech. The Ather 450 Plus is priced at Rs 1.31 lakh while the 450X retails at Rs 1.50 lakh (both ex-showroom Bengaluru including FAME II). For the Rs 19,000 premium, the 450X offers you a higher range, better acceleration, more torque, and features like Bluetooth connectivity, and OTA updates as well. Ola S1 Pro

The Ola S1 entered the market sometime last year and has created quite some buzz since then. From outlandish registration figures to the claimed range and features on offer, the Ola S1 e-scooter is one of the most popular scooters currently sold in India. While Ola did introduce two variants of the S1 – standard and Pro – it currently only has the S1 Pro on sale. The asking price is set to Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru) and it claims to offer 135km of true range. Not just that, Ola is also exploring extremely fast charging soon for added convenience. 

TVS iQube Electric

In the sea of pure EV manufacturers, TVS is one of the mainstream two-wheeler makers to have launched a commendable EV in the form of the iQube Electric. It’s TVS’ first electric scooter and is priced at Rs 1 lakh (on-road Delhi). You get three lithium-ion batteries with a cumulative power rating of 2.25kWh. The TVS iQube Electric promises a range of 75kms. It comes with features like full LED illumination, TVS SmartXonnect feature for smartphone compatibility and offers decent storage space too.  

Bajaj Chetak

Another petrol-powered two-wheeler manufacturer to have dipped its toes in the EV sea is Bajaj. It has the Chetak e-scooter which takes inspiration from its iconic predecessor (Chetak) and dons a thorough retro attire. You get LED lights, two drive modes — Sport and Eco -- reverse assist mode, regenerative braking and an onboard Intelligent Battery Management System (IBMS). Furthermore, the Chetak houses a 3kWh IP67 rated lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of 95km.  

Revolt RV 400

Last but not least, the Revolt RV400 is one quirky electric motorcycle in the EV market. It has decent proportions and packs notable features as well. From LED illumination to, Bluetooth connectivity and speakers for faux motorcycle sound, the RV400 is quite a package. It’s equipped with a 3kW lithium-ion battery paired with a 3KWh motor. Revolt claims that the RV400 can clock up to 150km of range. The asking price is set to Rs 1.24 lakh (ex-showroom) and it goes down further after you avail of the subsidies.
