Pictures of the production version of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R have been leaked by an employee of the design firm, Kiska design that is responsible for designing all of Austrian maker’s products, including the KTM X-Bow. The motorcycle was specially showcased to American KTM dealers in company’s headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria.
The pictures clearly indicate that there are no drastic changes on the production model from the concept motorcycle that was unveiled at the 2012 EICMA in Italy and the only changes that can been seen are the exhaust and the headlamp that now feature a much sharper design.
The company has also showcased a USA special ‘Patriot Edition’ that has a Blue and White colour scheme inspired from USA national flag. The fuel tank sports an Eagle emblem and the alloy wheels have been replaced from traditional KTM Orange colour to Blue and White.
The KTM 1290 Super Duke R is likely to be launched at the 2013 EICMA event in Milan and will go on sale in December. Bajaj had comfirmed during the KTM Duke 390 launch that the Super Duke 1290 R wont make its way in India anytime soon. But if the demands for the premium motorcycles increase in near future, they might consider bringing this motorcycle through completely-built-unit (CBU) route but expect the motorcycle to demand a premium price.
