We all know about the Himalayan, the upcoming adventure motorcycle form Royal Enfield. What we didn’t know is how it’s going to look in the production form. But now we do.
Thanks to our friends at PowerDrift, we’ve managed to get the spy pictures of the new Himalayan sans camouflage in a location unknown to us. From these pictures, it is clear that the Himalayan is production ready and the official launch isn’t far. The bike is equipped with two panniers, which is mounted on the holder. This holder also has the option of load top pannier.
In the previous spy pictures, the prototypes were equipped with a weird looking metal bars, just below the headlamp assembly. Now, thanks to these pictures, it turns out that it holds plastic jerry cans that could prove useful during long trips. The rear of the Himalayan looks quite interesting, thanks to the rectangular tail lamp and those pannier designs. The bike sports proper off road tyres, which is necessary for such a bike.
The Himalayan is built around the same twin downtube cradle frame from the Royal Enfield Continental GT. However, the chassis has been modified to adapt to the bike's adventure character. We're expecting the sub frame to be stronger to take care of the panniers and pillion. The suspension setup is made of conventional long-travel telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock in the rear.
Talking about its performance, the Himalayan is rumoured to be powered by a new 410cc single cylinder engine. There is nothing on the torque figures yet, but we expect this engine to be torquey to take care of touring.
Royal Enfield is tight-lipped about the Himalayan but we should see some action from the company in the coming weeks. While we really like the way Himalayan looks, we hope it rides well too.
Stay tuned to BikeWale.
