- Seems production ready
- Spotted testing alongside a Moto Guzzi Stelvio test mule
- Will rival the Yamaha YZF R3, KTM RC 390, and more
A few days ago, we saw an image of the Aprilia RS440 test mule in India but it only revealed the right rear three-quarter of the bike. Now, new spy shots of a test bike from overseas reveal notably more details about the upcoming Italian supersport.
As per the above images, the RS440 is set to don a sleek and sharp front fascia with split LED headlights. It looks pretty similar to the current RS660. Even the side panels, exposed frame, and tapered tail resemble those of the middleweight offering. Then, the headlight is topped by a transparent visor. The bike has been spotted alongside the upcoming Moto Guzzi Stelvio, which will be sold in the international market only.
As mentioned in our previous stories, the Aprilia RS440 will use a 440cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor with an output of around 48bhp. It’ll be linked to a six-speed gearbox and could get a top speed of around 180kmph. Aprilia will also load the bike with rider aids like ABS and other features like a TFT with smartphone connectivity, a quickshifter, and more.
The test bike seen here is equipped with a single front and rear disc with ABS, USD front forks, and a monoshock. It most likely rides on 17-inch tyres. Moreover, the test bike spotted around Pune was also equipped with a saree guard as per Indian safety norms.
It seems that the bike is ready for production and Aprilia could make an official announcement sometime during the festive season. Once launched, it will rival the upcoming Yamaha YZF R3, KTM RC 390, and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
