- Production-ready Tuono 660 picture leaked
- Get revised exhaust, belly pan
- World debut likely this year
Piaggio is betting big on the middleweight motorcycles and that is why it has developed the Aprilia RS660 – a fully-faired motorcycle and the Tuono 660 – a street bike. Both the bikes were showcased in concept forms last year but it looks like we now know how the production variant of the Tuono 660 will look.
From the leaked patent pictures, it is clear that the Tuono 660 will carry majority of the design and mechanical elements from the concept version. But the Italian maker has done some changes around the exhaust and the belly pan.
The exhaust system now has mesh grill covering the exit. In the concept, it was just a hole. The other major change seen on the bike is the plastics around the belly pan. It has been designed to cover a slightly bulkier exhaust system.
The Tuono 660 will be powered by a 660cc parallel-twin motor that will churn out 95bhp; 5bhp lesser than the RS660. But Aprilia assures us that it will be strapped with the entire load of electronic wizardy which consists of traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, engine brake control, and five ride modes.
This new Tuono 660 is likely to make its public debut sometime late this year. This is one of the bikes that we would like to see in India, but expect it to be priced high as it will be imported into India as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit.
