- The test mule has been spotted overseas but has been spied in India too back in March
- Looks ready to be set on the production line
- Could be launched by early 2023 alongside the Meteor 650
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 has been spotted testing overseas and it seems to be production-ready. The bike was also spotted in India not so long ago, and here’s what we know about it.
From the first spotted test mule with the boxy clutter on the sides to the one spotted back in March, the Shotgun 650 test mule now seems to have a clear design language. It appears to be in the last few stages of development and could be doing the range testing, given the topbox with the wires hanging off it.
The LED headlight gets a cowl and is flanked by conventional bulb indicators. The test mule is equipped with a twin-pod console. While the larger unit will house all the necessary readouts (odometer, speedometer, fuel level), the smaller one could be the tripper navigation system.
Royal Enfield will use the same motor for the Shotgun 650 as it does for the current Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 – 650cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine. It may receive a different state of tune though.
The Shotgun 650 rides on USD front forks and twin rear shocks while the braking hardware consists of a single front and rear disc. Not to mention, the latest spied mule also has a different set of alloys than the previous one. So, expect the bikemaker to offer quite some options in its catalog.
We expect Royal Enfield to debut the Shotgun 650 post the Meteor 650 and it’ll be the top-of-the-line product in the brand’s 650cc portfolio.
