A new spy picture of the Bajaj Pulsar 400SS has been doing rounds of the internet. The picture seems to be taken at the factory floor and shows the motorcycle partially covered in a translucent sheet.
Bajaj is planning to launch the Pulsar 200SS very soon, which will be visually identical to its bigger sibling, the Pulsar 400SS. The spy pictures show an ABS ring for the front wheel of the motorcycle, which hints that this motorcycle is the Pulsar 400SS. As ABS isn’t offered in either the Pulsar 200NS or the KTM RC200, we think that it is very unlikely that Bajaj will offer it in the Pulsar 200SS.
And though the model displayed at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo was shod with Metzler tyres, the spied motorcycle employs Eurogrip tyres, which are currently used in the Pulsar 200NS. While the Metzlers provide a far superior grip as compared to Eurogrips, their longevity is very less as compared to the latter.
While Bajaj hasn’t divulged any details about the technicalities of the Pulsar 400SS, it is expected to be offered with the same 375cc engine from the Duke 390. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox, though it will be revamped to give the SS400 its own character.
Both the Pulsar 200SS and the Pulsar 400SS have been spotted testing many times. As with its other products, we expect Bajaj to price them very competitively. Reports indicate that the Pune-based manufacturer is planning to introduce the Pulsar 200SS before launching the Pulsar 400SS, though the company has refused to confirm it.
