Honda has unveiled the road legal prototype of the RCV racer at the 2014 EICMA. Developed jointly by HRC (Honda Racing Company) and Honda Motor, the RC213V-S is expected to be one of the ultimate road going superbikes.
Two motorcycles are on display at the event in Milan. One of them is a static model painted in the colours of the Japanese flag, the other is a fully functional version in a carbon fibre body, ridden onto the stage by the reigning MotoGP world champion, Marc Marquez. While not many details of the superbike are available at this moment, it is apparent that once launched, this will be the new flagship superbike for Honda, positioned above the CBR1000rr Fireblade.
The basic additions to RC213V-S over the race spec RC213V will include fully functional headlamps, mirrors, instrument cluster and tail lamp assembly. The equipment on the bike will also be tuned to seek balance between longevity and performance.
This is not the first motorcycle unveiled at the 2014 EICMA that borrows from the racing lineage. The2015 Yamaha R1 unveiled yesterday takes more than a few bits from the mighty M1, though we are not so happy about its controversial looks.
