The round two of the MRF MMSC FMSCI National Racing Championship for two-wheelers was to be held this weekend – 23rd and 24 July has been rescheduled. The announcement states that the cause for this delay is the recent resurfacing of the Madras Motor Racing Track.
The track was recently resurfaced, but following last weekend’s MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship (four-wheelers), the top layer peeled off at a few corners which require resurfacing and consequently time for the curing process. This was made known by the Chairman of the Meet, Vicky Chandhok, in a press release.
Announcing the rescheduling on Sunday, Chandhok said, “The car races this weekend saw the top surface of the track peeling off and we need to carry out necessary repairs. In the interest of the two-wheeler competitors, it was best to reschedule the event. We have spoken to all the manufacturers and the privateers involved in the two-wheeler races. They were all very supportive of our decision and understood the reasons for rescheduling the second round.”
The fresh dates will be announced later. Until then, to read about how the one-make races unfolded last month click below:
