Royal Enfield is evolving from being a cult motorcycle brand to a mass market one. Royal Enfield reported a 41 per cent jump in their sales figures. They hit 40,453 units last month compared to the 28,634 units in December 2014.
The local sales stood at 40,037 units during the month as against 28,179 units in December 2014 - an increase of 42 per cent. Exports of the Royal Enfield motorcycles were at 416 units during the month as against 455 units in December 2014, down 9 per cent. The company currently offers 10 different motorcycles in India. The Royal Enfield Electra is only available with the 350cc engine, whereas the Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird are offered with 350cc and 500cc engine options. Their cafe-racer Continental GT is only available with their most powerful engine on offer in their range, it has a 535cc engine making 29bhp and also uses a new twin downtube cradle frame.
Soon, Royal Enfield will also make its foray into the adventure-touring segment with the Himalayan. This will be the second motorcycle from them to use the new twin downtube cradle frame. It will assist Royal Enfield to achieve even higher sales figures. The bike is expected to go on sale sometime this year.
