Royal Enfield has announced the first edition of the Himalayan Adventure – Rongbuk ride which is set to traverse through the base camps of Mount Everest, Shishapangma and Cho Oyu mountains in Tibet. It is an 11-day expedition scheduled to take place from 8 October to 19 October.
Besides riding to the base camps of three aforementioned mountain peaks, Royal Enfield takes the riders through a few other gems nestled within the Himalayan ranges. This includes the highly challenging terrain of Mustang Valley, secluded areas of Zanskar region along with Karakoram Pass on the Indo-China border which is situated at an altitude of 18,700 feet. The highlight of the ride is Rongbuk which is highly acclaimed for its majestic monasteries located near the base camp of Mount Everest.
The Himalayan Adventure – Rongbuk expedition will witness 11 riders covering a distance of 1,111 km, starting from Kathmandu on 10 October and moving towards the Nepal-Tibet border in the northeast. To scale these treacherous high-altitude regions with sub-zero temperatures, the riders will be using Royal Enfield’s adventure motorcycle, the Himalayan, which is one of the ideal machine’s to conquer the trickiest of terrains.
