Royal Enfield expanded its middleweight lineup with the launch of the Bear 650. The bike borrows a heavy bit of its build from the Interceptor 650 along with a few tweaks to make it a scrambler. And if you are planning to purchase one, then here are five things you must know.
Design
Although the Royal Enfield Bear 650 and the Interceptor 650 share the same platform, the Bear gets a few aesthetic changes. The round LED headlight, fuel tank, and overall styling are largely similar but the colour scheme on the Bear is more youthful. It also has an oval panel on the right side like a scrambler. Moreover, the Bear packs a single-sided two-in-one exhaust setup. Not to mention, it also borrows the LED indicators from the 450cc Royal Enfield bikes.
Features
Along with the LED headlight, Royal Enfield has offered the Bear 650 a fully digital single-pod instrument console. It is borrowed from the Himalayan 450 and offers smartphone connectivity as well. Royal Enfield as also offered a dedicated switch to turn off the rear ABS when you go off-roading with the Bear 650.
Engine
Powering the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is the same 650cc twin-cylinder oil-cooled motor that makes 47bhp and 57Nm. Royal Enfield says that the Bear makes 5bhp more than its siblings, thanks to the new exhaust setup. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
Apart from the braced chassis, Royal Enfield has also introduced other updates like USD front forks and non-gas-charged springs at the rear for the Bear 650. Its braking hardware comprises single discs at both ends with ABS. These are mounted on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in MRF Nylorex tyres.
Price
The asking price for the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is set at Rs. 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai) and it is offered five different colours - Broadwalk White, Petrol Green, White Honey, Golden Shadow, Two Four Nine.
