Royal Enfield is scheduled to launch two motorcycles on 26 March. While one is the Bullet Trials 350, the other is the 500cc version of the same called the Bullet Trials 500. With just a couple of days for the launch, we tell you what to expect fom the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 Scrambler.
Design
The Bullet Trials 500 Scrambler shares most of its underpinnings with the standard Bullet 500 although with a completely different appeal. The Bullet Trials 500 is a scrambler-styled motorcycle that sports dual-sport tyres, handlebar-brace, fork gaiters, and an upswept exhaust that completes its look. It comes with a single-seat and a luggage rack at the rear, a design element that harks back to scrambler motorcycles of the 70s and 80s. Apart from these changes, the Bullet Trials 500 has a silhouette of the standard Bullet, and lest we forget, generous amounts of chrome.
Engine
The Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500 will be powered by a 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that uses a carburettor system similar to the Bullet 500. This motor generates 26.1bhp and 40.9Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed gearbox with final chain drive. However, Royal Enfield could slightly tune this motor to suit the characteristics of the Bullet Trials 500.
Cycle Parts
Since it is expected to share most of its components with the standard Bullet 500,the Bullet Trials 500 is likely to ride on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels shod with tubed tyres. Damping duties will be taken care of by telescopic front forks and a twin-shock setup at the rear. Meanwhile, the Bullet Trials 500 will drop anchor using disc brakes on both ends and a dual-channel ABS unit.
Pricing
We expect Royal Enfield to price the Bullet Trials 500 at a premium of Rs 6000 to Rs 10,000 over the standard variant which is priced at Rs 1.86 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
