- Gets rear disc brakes and ABS as standard.
- New colour schemes.
- Indian version expected to get ABS in 2019.
Royal Enfield has unveiled the 2018 version of the Classic 500 in the USA.
The bike now gets rear disc brakes and ABS as standard along with four new colour schemes- Stealth Black, Gunmetal Grey, Green Chrome and Graphite Chrome. The Gunmetal Grey variant costs USD 5,699 (Rs 3.82 lakhs) while the other options are priced at USD 5,799 (Rs 3.89 lakhs).
The Classic 500 is available in the Stealth Black shade in India, while the Gunmetal Grey is reserved for the Classic 350 here. Also, India only gets the Black Chrome paint scheme unlike the US which gets three chrome colour options. However, there are no mechanical changes on the bike and it continues to sport the 499cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This unit produces 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque via a five-speed gearbox.
The 2018 Classic 500 will be available across North American Royal Enfield dealerships starting from this month itself. While the manufacturer would mandatorily have to equip the Classic 500 with ABS in India next year, we can also expect it to sport new colour schemes.
