Royal Enfield has launched the Classic 500 Pegasus edition in India with a price tag of Rs 2,49,217 (on-road).
With a limited production of 1000 units worldwide, 250 units have been allotted to India and are only available in a brown paint scheme. Based on the standard Classic 500, it draws styling inspirations from the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 used in World War II by the British military.
The Classic 500 Pegasus gets exclusive accessories like a leather strap with brass buckles on the air filter box, a pair of canvas panniers and brown handlebar grips as standard. Each bike also gets a unique serial number stencilled on the side of the tank along with an embossed Royal Enfield logo and Pegasus emblem. The headlamp bezel, rims, exhaust and engine have been blacked out and the crankcase cover is colour-coordinated to replicate the RE/WD 125.
The bike is powered by a 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Braking on the Classic 500 Pegasus is done by disc brakes on both ends, missing out on an ABS unit.
The Pegasus will be sold through online sale on Royal Enfield's official website on 10 July. Along with the bike, a Pegasus owner will also get a helmet and tee-shirt from Royal Enfield's new range of apparel.
