Royal Enfield has started exporting the Classic 500 Redditch editions to its dealers in the UK. This limited edition motorcycle is now available for booking at UK showrooms.
This version was supposed to be launched in April in the UK, but was delayed to June. The Chennai-based manufacturer introduced the Redditch editions to commemorate its history with the small town.. Enfield bikes were produced at the Redditch facility till 1967.
The company is offering three paint schemes for the Classic 500 Redditch edition, red, blue and green. These vibrant colours are seen only in the fuel tank. Rest of the motorcycle continues to get the black theme with the chrome finish. The bike carries Redditch monograms as well, in order to make it more alluring.
Mechanically, there are no changes. The bike continues to be powered by a 499cc single-cylinder 27.2bhp motor. ABS is standard on this model. Unfortunately, none of the Royal Enfield motorcycles in India gets ABS, which is disappointing, considering the fact that the company has the technology ready and up for use.
Royal Enfield has priced the Classic 500 Redditch edition at £4899 (Rs 4.11 lakh), which is £200 (Rs 16,785) more than the standard Classic 500.
