- Classic 650 appears in leaked document
- Will be based on Super Meteor 650 platform
- Could be launched by 2024
Royal Enfield is working on a Classic 650 based on the same platform as the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and the newest Super Meteor 650. While this does not come as a surprise, a recently leaked document has confirmed the same.
The document categorically reveals Royal Enfield’s plans for the future. While there are other models based on the 650 platform, the Classic 650 seems to be at the hem of it all. After all, the Classic brand name has been raking in the most monies for the Chennai-based manufacturer consistently for years. That said, we can expect the Royal Enfield Classic 650 to sport a styling similar to the 350cc model. So, a circular headlamp and tail lamp, minimalistic-looking fuel tank and broad-chested riding ergonomics could be the core of its character.
Underneath, the Classic 650 will come powered by the same 649cc, parallel-twin engine as the other models. While the wheels and brakes could be similar to the Interceptor, we can expect Royal Enfield to fit the upside-down forks that are offered on the Super Meteor 650. As for features, it is likely to get LED lighting for the headlamp and a boatload of optional accessories.
Now, the all-new Classic 650 could make its debut in the latter half of 2023 or by early 2024. While it is too early to comment on its what it will cost, we can expect its price to float around Rs 3.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
