We have ridden Royal Enfield’s newest offering, the Classic 650 Twin, in the UK. You can read all about our experience in the first ride report. However, for those with a shorter attention span, here’s a quick summary of the review along with the pictures of the Classic 650 Twin.
While the Classic 650 retains the same design ethos as its popular 350cc sibling, Royal Enfield has made sure that it looks more imposing with bigger body panels.
The quality levels are just like all modern Royal Enfield motorcycles – upmarket. The top-notch finish of chrome and body paint speak of the attention to detail by the brand.
While the seating ergonomics are similar to the Classic 350, they are a bit more cruiser-like on the 650 with a wider handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs.
The chassis and headstock along with the rake and trail are the same as the Shotgun 650. However, the new Classic rides on a bigger 19-18-inch spoke wheel combination with 43mm Showa USD forks and dual springs.
While the Classic 650 is the heaviest bike in Royal Enfield’s portfolio at 243kg, it handles corners with great stability and composure, although getting it to steer requires some effort.
The 648cc, parallel-twin engine is the same as other twin-cylinder RE offerings. It continues to deliver a strong and linear torque output with impressive levels of refinement.
Royal Enfield will launch the motorcycle in four colours including Teal, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Black Chrome, and Vallum Red which is the one you see in these pictures.
The prices of the Classic 650 are expected to be announced at Motoverse later this month. It will be priced very close to the Shotgun 650 which starts from Rs. 3.59 lakh, ex-showroom.
