- Features similar styling as the Classic 350
- Based on the Interceptor 650 platform
- Likely to be launched in 2025
The all-new Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Although the spy pictures are blurry, the overall silhouette and design elements of the Classic 650 are quite apparent from these images.
Design and Cycle Parts
Now, before you argue that this could be the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, let me clear out a few things which establish that this is indeed the new Classic 650. First and foremost, the test mule sports conventional telescopic forks with fork covers and a headlamp nacelle similar to the Classic 350. Further, the test mule features wire-spoke wheels, long mudguards and split seats, which are again a Classic 350 design trait.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 also features a pair of peashooter exhausts that are ever-so-slightly raised to go well with the bike’s overall design. The motorcycle gets centre-set footpegs and an upright handlebar, hinting at relaxed ergonomics and a comfortable riding posture.
Engine Specifications
Given that the upcoming Classic 650 will be based on the Super Meteor 650 platform, we expect it to use the same 648cc, oil-cooled, twin-cylinder motor that makes around 47bhp and 52Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox. A slipper clutch will be standard.
Launch Details, Price and Competition
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be launched in India in early 2025. We expect it to be priced between the Interceptor 650 and Super Meteor 650, so a price tag of around Rs. 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom) seems likely. Once launched, it will rival the upcoming BSA Goldstar.
