-Powered by a parallel-twin engine
-Features a timeless design, dual-tone colours
-Launch expected soon
The upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been spotted undisguised, a few days before its official launch. The spy shot reveals the production-spec Classic 650 and there are quite a lot of interesting details that one can see.
The design is similar to that of the Royal Enfield Classic 350. From the round LED headlight to the teardrop-shaped fuel tank, curved fenders and triangular side panels, the Classic 650 is instantly recognisable. The bike's proportions also appear good enough to exude a strong road presence.
One of the bikes seen in the images has a maroon and cream, dual-tone colour. Another Classic 650 has a lot of chrome on the fuel tank. Going by what Royal Enfield has managed with the colour options on the Classic 350, expect to see a wide range of colour options on the Classic 650 as well.
Under the pretty bodywork, one can see a tubular steel frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers that should be preload adjustable. The travel appears to be generous at both ends and we expect to see a Classic 650 that rides well, as is the case with the Classic 350.
The bike in the pictures rides on wire-spoke rims with tube-type tyres. Royal Enfield may offer alloy wheels with tubeless tyres as an option or as a variant. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and rear.
Powering the bike is the same 648cc, air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that we’ve seen in the rest of the 650-twins range from Royal Enfield. Expect the engine to produce around 47bhp and 52Nm and it will be paired with a six-speed gearbox. There may be changes to the state of tune and the overall gearing to offer a relaxed yet responsive experience.
Lastly, expect to see a decent set of features such as an LED headlight and tail light, gear position indicator and tripper navigation in the top-spec Classic 650.
Royal Enfield is expected to launch the Classic 650 in India very soon and price it quite competitively.
