The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has been spotted once again on a test run. The test mule was also seen a while back in India as well as in some other countries, and here’s what we know about it so far.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will be based on its existing middleweight platform from the brand. It will boast an old-school design with a round headlight, large teardrop-shaped fuel tank, round mirrors and a pea-shooter exhaust. Then, it will get a split-seat setup and abundant chrome elements all over, right from the mirrors, engine casing, headlight bezel, and exhaust.
It will be powered by a 648cc twin-cylinder motor that makes 47bhp and 52Nm. This is the same engine that Royal Enfield uses for the Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650, and the Super Meteor 650. It’s linked to a six-speed gearbox and will benefit from a slipper clutch. The hardware for the Classic 650 will comprise telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, single front and rear discs with dual-channel ABS, and spoked wheels.
Along with an LED headlight, we also expect Royal Enfield to offer a twin-pod instrument console with the Classic 650. The layout could be similar to that of the Super Meteor’s unit. Moreover, similar to all the other bikes in Royal Enfield’s portfolio, the Classic 650, too, will get an extensive list of accessories – seat, engine crash guards, footpegs, mirrors, and more.
We expect Royal Enfield to price the Classic 650 at around Rs. 3.25 lakh and position it between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
