- Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels
- Gets a round tail light instead of the current rectangle unit
- Likely to be launched soon
Apart from the Super Meteor 650, Himalayan 450 and the Bullet 350, Royal Enfield has also been working on the updated Continental GT 650. Its test mule has been spotted near Chennai and here’s what’s different.
The most significant update seen on the test mule is the alloy wheels which will replace the spoked unit that Royal Enfield offers as a standard fitment. Then, the round tail light has replaced the rectangular unit that the current model is equipped with.
Elsewhere, the 648cc parallel-twin motor will be carried over with identical output figures: 47bhp and 52Nm. Even the retro design is likely to remain unaltered. The telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks will also be carried over along with the braking hardware.
The inclusion of the alloy wheels adds to the convenience of riding on tubeless tyres. This means the owners can ride hassle-free in case of punctures since there is no need to patch or replace the tube. We expect Royal Enfield to offer the alloys as a part of its accessories catalog so existing Continental GT 650 owners can replace the spoked ones if need be. Not to mention, the Interceptor 650 will also benefit from the new alloys. You can expect them to cost around Rs 10,000 - 15,000.
