- Continental GT Cup registrations open
- Rider selection programme to be held on 1 August
- To be hosted in Pro-Am series format
Royal Enfield has released the details of the third season of its Continental GT Cup one-make racing championship. Registrations for the competition have already begun for those who want to showcase their racing talent in this unique retro-style racing program.
Similar to the previous two seasons, the Continental GT Cup will be a part of the JK National Racing Championship 2023 and is certified by the Federation of Motorsports Cub on India (FMSCI). Also, just like the previous season, Royal Enfield is conducting this edition in Pro-Am series format which allows amateur and professional racers to compete on the same grid. Amongst all the registered candidates, the organisation will be selecting a total of 100 most suitable riders for the Rider Selection Programme which will be held at Kari Motor Speedway on 1 August. Following this round, 10 professional ad 15 Amateur candidates will be selected for the proceeding races.
The Continental GT Cup 2023 season will comprise three rounds and eight races which will be held between August and November this year. The race venue, Kari Motor Speedway, will remain common for all rounds. As for the race bike, all participants will compete on race-spec Continental GT-R650 motorcycles. This bike boasts certain performance-oriented modifications, the most significant of which is the presence of a race-tuned ECU and a free-flow exhaust. Meanwhile, the 648cc, parallel-twin engine is internally the same as the stock Continental GT 650. Interestingly, we were fortunate enough to get to experience the race bike around Kari last year and it was quite an action-packed session.
