Royal Enfield will finally be launching its much awaited cafe racer-inspired motorcycle, the Continental GT, tomorrow, at an event in Goa.
The Café racer was first shown at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. A prototype of the motorcycle was then displayed at the 2012 Expo and this time, the motorcycle featured all the details to make it look ready for production.
Café Racer fans in India have been craving for the motorcycle for a year now and tomorrow to add to their happiness, Royal Enfield will officially launch the motorcycle for the Indian market. The Continental GT is the first Café Racer motorcycle to be officially rolled out of the manufacturing plant by any Indian manufacturer.
The motorcycle is powered by a single-cylinder air-cooled 535cc engine that produces 29.1bhp of power at 5,100 rpm and a maximum torque of 44Nm at 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a five-speed transmission.
Royal Enfield has already produced many units of the motorcycle at its Chennai plant and plans to please the Café Racer fans by making the motorcycle available to them by this Christmas. It is expected to be priced between Rs 2.25 lakh and Rs 2.75 lakh.
