This year's Wheels and Waves festival in France tuned out to be a good platform for Royal Enfield to showcase their first ever custom-built motorcycles. Apart from the Himalayan Gentleman Brat, the manufacturer's tie-up with Sinroja Motorcycles saw the birth of the Continental GT Surf Racer too. This picture gallery delves into the details of the café racer.
Sinroja Motorcycles is a UK based motorcycle customisation team, which has transformed the Royal Enfield Continental GT into a true blue cafe racer.
Since cafe racer motorcycles are essentially stripped-down, lightweight versions of regular bikes, the Surf Racer makes this apparent with all the modifications on this heavily modified Continental GT.
Components like a half fairing, 17-inch performance rims and an upside-down, front fork bring in the cafe racer elements.
This Surf Racer comes equipped with dual petal discs in the front with radially mounted calipers and a single disc unit in the rear.
Moreover, what will grab your attention is the unique under-the-engine, horizontally mounted, rear monoshock. The way it utilises a linkage to connect to the swingarm is sheer artistry.
Another eye-catching add-on is the seat of the Royal Enfield Continental GT Surf Racer. This is a custom-built unit with brown leather.
Furthermore, the fuel tank with a cool blue shade is also seen in the body work, and is a visual treat. The tyres too have been upgraded.
This Surf Racer gets its 535cc single-cylinder engine from the Continental GT, but it has been tuned up with a higher lift cam, machined piston barrels and a new inlet manifold.
The aforementioned components will ensure higher compression, while a new Dellorto carb conversion now sucks in the air. The burnt gases are then released via an under seat, jet-style, tail exhaust.
