Royal Enfiled Continental GT aka Café Racer will be launched in the Indian market on November 25. An official invite has been sent to BikeWale to experience the Continental GT and the event will take place for four days.
The Continental GT was first unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo and finally after 21 months, the motorcycle will make its way to India. The Café Racer was launched in the UK last month with a price tag of £5200 (Rs 5.21 lakh) and is the fastest, lightest, most powerful Royal Enfield in production.
The Cafe Racer is powered by a 535cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that churns out 29.1bhp at 5100rpm and has a peak torque of 44Nm at 4000rpm. This engine is actually a bored out version of the 500cc mill that powers the Classic 500. It has been mated to a five-speed gearbox and retains the Keihin fuel injection.
The retro looking motorcycle takes its design cues from the 1960 Café Racer style design that will surely bring back the 1960 motorcycle era. It has a kerb weight of 184kgs with 90 per cent fuel and oil and can carry 13.5 litres of fuel at one go. The Cafe Racer includes a low profile fuel tank with knee recesses. The clip-on handle bars are placed low and sports optional rear view mirrors placed at the bar end. It gets Brembo disc brake units at both front and rear and features Pirelli Sport Demons tyres. The Cafe Racer is fitted with telescopic suspension in the front and Paioli twin gas charged absorbers round off the rear.
We are expecting the motorcycle to carry a price tag of somewhere between Rs 2.25 lakh and Rs 2.75 lakh. Check out the official video release by Royal Enfield during the UK launch.
