- Seems to take inspiration from the GT-R 650 race bike
- Equipped with remote adjustable rear springs
- Likely to be equipped with the same motor
Besides its array of new offerings, Royal Enfield also seems to be working on updating its existing portfolio. A few months ago, the Continental GT 650 was spotted with alloy wheels and now a new test mule of the bike has been spotted with a couple of more changes.
The first and most evident change on this test bike is the fairing at the front. It looks similar to the one Royal Enfield uses for its Continental GT-R 650 race bike. The handlebar too appears to be lowered for a better stance and the conventional mirrors have made way for bar ends. The latter is likely a result of the fairing placement.
Moving further, the new Continental GT650 test mule also features remote adjustable rear shock absorbers. These help to alter the ride quality as needed. Both changes could make the bike a better overall package. That said, the engine is likely to remain unaltered with the same output figures – a 648cc air/oil-cooled engine dishing out 47bhp and 52Nm.
Currently, Royal Enfield has the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650 as their only middleweight offerings. But we expect the portfolio to expand soon as the brand has been testing the upcoming Shotgun 650 as well as the Super Meteor 650. One of the two aforementioned models could make its debut very soon.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 retails at Rs 3,05,624 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards while the Interceptor 650 costs Rs 2,88,814 (ex-showroom Delhi).
