Royal Enfield had a good start to the New Year. The company registered an impressive 25 per cent growth in January 2017.
The maker of the Himalayan sold 59,676 units last month as compared to 47,710 units in January 2016. Out of the total sales, the domestic sales stood at 58,133 units as against 47,140 units in the same month last year. That’s a whopping 23 per cent year-on-year growth. Royal Enfield exported 1543 units in January 2017 as compared to 570 units a year earlier.
While Royal Enfield doesn’t reveal the model-wise figures, the maximum sales comes from the Classic 350, which used to be BikeWale’s most researched motorcycle. The Bullet 350 contributes the second highest sales, followed by the Bullet Electra. The Bullet brand has a massive fan following in the country, especially in the rural areas.
Royal Enfield has been able to stay highly profitable as there’s a huge demand for the Classic 350, but it has a new rival now – the Bajaj Dominar, which is better, safer and modern. But only time will tell if a prospective Royal Enfield buyer would like to put his money on Bajaj.
