Royal Enfield recently introduced another motorcycle based on its 450cc platform, and it is called the Guerrilla 450. The segment already has a bunch of names like the Triumph Speed 400, Harley-Davidson X440, and more. In this story, we have compared the Guerrilla 450 with the X440 to tell you which one has the upper hand on paper.
Design
The Guerrilla 450 may appear smaller than the bike it is based on, the Himalayan 450, but still packs decent muscle and proportions. It appears sizeable and looks properly retro as well. The Harley-Davidson X440 too gets an old-school appearance but with boxy panels. We have spent a good time with the X440 and can tell you that it looks bigger than a 440cc bike in person.
Features
Royal Enfield has offered the Guerrilla 450's top-spec model with all the bells and whistles. It comes with full LED illumination, a TFT, smartphone connectivity, navigation via Bluetooth, ABS modes, and a USB charging port as well. The Harley-Davidson X440’s top spec variant too comes with all the aforementioned features but it only gets turn-by-turn navigation. That said, the Guerrilla 450 borrows its instrumentation from the Himalayan 450 and it looks better than the one on the X440.
Engine
Powering the Guerrilla 450 is a 452cc, liquid-cooled motor that makes 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox. The Harley-Davidson X440 uses a 440cc, single-cylinder engine, producing 27bhp and 38Nm. The X440 also gets a six-speed gearbox but it makes notably less power than the Guerrilla 450.
Hardware
Royal Enfield has equipped the Guerrilla 450 with gaitered telescopic front forks and a monoshock. Meanwhile, the Harley-Davidson X440 uses USD front forks and dual rear springs. Both bikes get a front and rear disc brake with alloy wheels. However, the X440 gets diamond cut finishing which looks much better.
Price
The asking price for the Guerrilla 450 is set at Rs. 2.54 lakh for the top-spec Flash model. On the other hand, the Harley-Davidson X440 retails at nearly Rs. 2.80 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 seem much better on paper.
