Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 450 in Malaysia, nearly nine months after the adventure motorcycle was launched in India. The bike is imported by the Didi Group, Royal Enfield’s sole distributor in Malaysia.
The KTM 390 Adventure rival is available in five colour options spread across three variants – Base, Pass, and Summit. The Himalayan 450 is priced between RM 30,600 (Rs. 5.87 lakh) to RM 32,200 (Rs. 6.17 lakh) in Malaysia. The Base variant, available in the Kaza Brown colourway, costs RM 30,600, while the Pass variant is pegged at RM 31,100 (Rs. 5.96 lakh), and comes in Slate Himalayan Salt or Slate Poppy Blue colours. The Summit variant is available in Hanle Black and Kamet White paint schemes, priced at RM 31,500 (Rs. 6.04 lakh) and RM 32,200 respectively.
Powering the Himalayan 450 is Royal Enfield’s new 452cc, Sherpa engine. The single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill delivers an output of 39.5bhp at 8,000 rpm with a peak torque of 40Nm at 5,500 rpm. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox, while it uses a ride-by-wire throttle system.
The Himalayan 450 sold in Malaysia is identical to the India-spec model. It gets the same features and hardware package like the Showa suspension setup and 21/17-inch wheels. In India, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 rivals the KTM 390 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure, Triumph Scrambler 400X, and the BMW G 310 GS.
