- Will get a fully digital instrument console
- India launch soon
- Will rival the KTM 390 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure and more
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 was spotted testing recently and we talked about quite a few details revealed from those spy shots. However, a new image of the test mule has surfaced, revealing another crucial aspect of the motorcycle.
While it was evident that the upcoming Royal Enfield ADV would sport a single pod instrument console, we now know its layout as well. It will be a fully digital unit with the tachometer reading around the periphery and the gear position indicator in the centre. Right beside it is the speedometer, and a probable trip meter readout above. We suspect the fuel level bar is located between the tachometer and gear position indicator.
Unlike the current generation Himalayan, the 450 could get a slightly higher-revving motor. It will be a 450cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine dishing 40bhp and 45Nm. The motor will be linked to a six-speed gearbox. Apart from that, the bike will feature LED illumination as well.
The Himalayan 450’s design, although rugged, looks much more modern than its predecessor, which is currently on sale. There’s also the transparent visor above the headlight, a wide and flat handlebar, and a split seat setup. The tail rack we see here will likely be offered as an accessory by Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield will equip the Himalayan 450 with USD front forks, and an offset monoshock. Its braking hardware will comprise a single front and rear disc mounted on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels. These units will be wrapped in off-road tyres.
Once launched, the Himalayan 450 will rival the KTM 390 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, and a few other names in the segment. It’s expected to retail for around Rs. 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
