- Teased by CS Santosh
- Could debut at one of the Baja Rallies this year
- Features upswept exhaust, knobby tyres, and more
It is an open secret that Royal Enfield has been working on more variants of the Himalayan 450. The bike has seen decent success in its standard form but now we have come across a teaser from CS Santosh’s social media post. It shows the potential Himalayan 450 Rally version in the development stage.
The test bike has a complete aftermarket setup with fully adjustable front forks, a new triple clamp, a custom handlebar, a tall rally-style tower setup for navigation, and a completely revamped switchgear setup. Further, other images also show a new cowl at the rear with the ‘Rally’ sticker. This could also be for the auxiliary fuel tank often equipped on rally bikes for added range.
The other image also reveals conventional tube wheels with knobby tyres. It also shows the engine from the right side and it appears unchanged. Since this bike has a different exhaust, we expect a slight power bump and re-tune to the engine.
Royal Enfield could use the Himalayan 450 in one of the upcoming Baja Rallies this year. CS Santosh will be the one piloting it and is deeply involved in the development of it at Royal Enfield’s facility in Spain. In a related development, Royal Enfield has finally launched the tubeless spoke wheels for the Himalayan 450 in India and that too for an extremely low price.
