- New 450cc engine sounds sportier
- It will get a more modern, liquid-cooled mill
- Test mules look almost production-ready
The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been spied on multiple occasions until now, revealing something new about the bike almost every time. The latest spy video, for instance, has captured its exhaust note while revealing a lot of other details about it that we already know.
As can be deciphered from the video, the exhaust sound is different from the existing Himalayan’s long-stroke thumping audio. Listen intently and you can hear the sound of a shorter stroke and perhaps a higher-revving engine which retains the traditional RE thump to some extent. That makes sense considering the 450cc engine of the next-generation Himalayan will be a more modern and sportier liquid-cooled setup. On the feature front, the Himalayan 450 will perhaps be the most advanced RE yet with goodies like a full-LED lighting setup, a large, round LCD console, and, hopefully, dual-channel ABS with switchable functionality. Similarly, the hardware package of the bike will be substantially superior with elements like upside-down front forks, a rear monoshock, and larger disc brakes at both ends. Furthermore, it should also be considerably lighter than the ongoing iteration.
The Himalayan 450 test mules look almost ready for production and Royal Enfield might launch it in the second half of this year. Once launched, it will go up against the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS.
