- Spied a couple of times before
- To compete against the KTM 390 Adventure
- Official launch expected to happen early next year
The Himalayan 450 is one of the most anticipated offerings due to be launched by Royal Enfield. After we ran an exclusive story about it, which you can read here, the spy shots of the motorcycle have been doing rounds on the internet for a while. In case you missed checking them out, here’s a fresh spy shot of the Himalayan 450 that has surfaced on the internet.
Components that are clearly visible in the picture include a wide, single-piece handlebar, split seat, a sizeable tail rack, and its dual-purpose rear tyre. What else is clearly evident is the 450cc engine about which we have already revealed a lot. Royal Enfield has developed this mill from the ground up. Unlike the existing long-stroke mills we see in all RE’s, this will be a sportier and shorter-stroke motor with liquid-cooling and a six-speed gearbox. Interestingly, we also know that this engine will churn out 40bhp of power and 45Nm of peak torque.
Similar to its engine, the Himalayan 450 will be equally modern in terms of equipment. It rides on wire-spoke wheels with upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It will also incorporate a full-LED lighting system along with a fully-digital instrument cluster, a first for an RE product. The motorcycle will mainly compete against the KTM 390 Adventure. Likely to debut early next year, the Himalayan 450 is expected to be priced attractively.
