- Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 made by a custom house
- Based on the Interceptor 650
- Project not completed yet
The much-anticipated Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 has finally turned into reality, but not officially. The UK-based custom house, Cooperb Motorcycles, has developed the motorcycle based on the highly revered Interceptor 650’s platform. The customising firm has christened the project as the Interlayan 650.
The most conspicuous alteration is in the styling department. The headlamp, windscreen, fuel tank, and jerry can holders, all look identical to the Himalayan. However, what seems to have been retained are the dual-pod instrument cluster, chassis, seat, underseat panels, and of course, the 650cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine.
The exhaust setup is different though. The Interceptor’s twin canister assembly has made way for two-to-one side-mounted exhaust sourced from S&S. Has this made any changes to its engine performance? Well, the company is yet to reveal that. The stock Interceptor 650 churns out 47bhp of power and 52Nm.
Cooperb Motorcycles has also executed some major alterations in its cycle parts. The Interlayan 650 is equipped with different spoke wheels and suspension setup at both ends. Even the road-biased tyres have been replaced by dual-purpose units. Moreover, there are panniers mounts to make it touring-friendly like the Himalayan. Interestingly, there are still some changes left to be made to the bike such as including a different seat and a side stand.
Although the Interlayan 650 won’t come to India, Royal Enfield is working on the more powerful and advanced Himalayan 450. We revealed all about it in our exclusive report some time back and you can read it here.
