Royal Enfield has revealed the Himalayan on its official website, ahead of the motorcycle's public debut on February 2. Pegged as a 'purpose-built adventure motorcycle', the website gives us the first 'official' glimpse of the Himalayan.
While important details about the powertrain and the specifications haven't been revealed, the website has been updated with official photographs and two promotional videos of the motorcycle. While the first video has ace off-road motorcyclist CS Santosh give an account of the Himalayan's capabilities, the second video, aptly titled 'The Terrain Test', shows the motorcycle being put through its paces through a race track, a forest trail and dirt tracks. It also shows the motorcycle's evolution from the prototype stage to the final production version.
The video also hints that the Himalayan will be powered by an 'LS400' overhead cam single-cylinder engine. The engine gets an oil cooler and has been developed keeping reliability in mind. The bike rides on a 21-inch front wheel, to make it more capable of traversing through the rough terrains. We can expect more details to be revealed as we get closer to the official unveiling date of the motorcycle.
