Royal Enfield recently launched the BS6-compliant version of its adventure offering, the Himalayan. The price of the motorcycle starts at Rs 1.86 lakhs and goes up to Rs 1.91 lakhs, depending on the colour option. In case you’re contemplating on similarly-priced alternatives over the Himalayan, here’s what the grid looks like.
If the Himalayan’s bare-bone styling and short list of features doesn’t suit your liking, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is also a tourer with modern looks and features. Although it doesn’t pack adventure-oriented hardware like the Himalayan, the 373.2cc motor of the Dominar does offer a lot more performance while being fairly comfortable for long distance riding. Not to forget the host of features such as full-LED lighting, an LCD instrument cluster along with an auxiliary display on the fuel tank. The Dominar 400 retails at Rs 1.90 lakhs.
The Jawa Perak is a unique proposition as it is the only bobber-styled motorcycle in this segment. The long wheelbase, flat and wide handlebar, bar-end mirrors, floating seat and all-black treatment across the bodywork make the Perak stand out of the crowd. What’s more, the 334cc, single-cylinder motor of the bike packs a fair amount of performance – 30bhp and 31Nm. In terms of price, at Rs 1.94 lakhs, the Perak carries a premium of Rs 3,000 over the most expensive version of the Himalayan.
For the sportsbike fanatics who have a thing for fully-faired and zippy motorcycles, the KTM RC 200 is your go-to option. The company has recently updated the engine of the motorcycle for BS6. In spite of that, the power figures have remained unchanged at 24.6bhp and 19.2Nm. Moreover, the profoundly sharp styling of the RC is now complemented by a new set of edgy graphics across its bodywork. The KTM RC 200 can be bought at Rs 1.98 lakhs.
If you want a premium offering from KTM but something more comfortable than the RC 200, the 250 Duke makes for an attractive option at Rs 2 lakhs. It gets a larger and more powerful 248cc, single-cylinder motor which makes 29.6bhp and 24Nm, and is now BS6-compliant. While it already had a new-age KTM styling similar to the 390 Duke, the new eye-catchy paint schemes further enhance its appeal.
