Royal Enfield confirmed today to BikeWale that it has begun the sales of the fuel-injected Himalayan and the Bullet 500 in India.
The company has been producing the fuel-injected Himalayan since the past few months now, however, it was only for the international markets. At the time of the official launch last year, the company cited higher prices for fuel injection motorcycles as a reason to sell it only in international markets. But it also did mention that it will be ready to install this technology on its bikes for India whenever the market demands.
All BS-III two-wheelers have been banned from April 1, 2017. So in order to meet the BS-IV norms, the Chennai-based manufacturer had to equip the Himalayan and the Bullet 500 with fuel-injection system. The company’s 350cc bikes – the Classic 350, Thunderbird 350 and the Electra ES – continues with carburetion.
We’re yet to receive the new prices from Royal Enfield on these bikes. We spoke with a few dealers too but they are yet to receieve the updated price list for these bikes from the company.
