The Royal Enfield Himalayan might have caught everyone’s attention when it first broke cover, though it now seems like enthusiasts wanting to lay their hands on the motorcycle might have a long wait ahead. While dealerships have started accepting bookings, the Himalayan is currently calling for a waiting period stretching from three to four months.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is an adventure touring motorcycle, purpose-built to tackle the harshest of terrains. The Himalayan is by far the first modern motorcycle that the company has developed in quite some time. Despite being a departure from the company’s existing line-up of old-school motorcycles, the Himalayan has generated quite a stir in the Indian two-wheeler market and Royal Enfield dealerships are quite happy with the response received for the motorcycle. Customers interested in buying the Himalayan can book one by paying a token amount of Rs 5,000. However, be prepared to wait for at least three to four months (unless Royal Enfield suddenly decides to ramp up production).
Built on a new duplex split cradle frame, the Himalayan is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine which delivers 24bhp and 32Nm of torque. Occupying a niche position in the Indian two-wheeler market, the Himalayan is sure to remain unrivalled for quite some time. For now, the Himalayan has been launched only in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, and we expect more cities to be added to the list soon.
