-New prototype electric motorcycle
-Has new UI, design
-gets electronic suspension
The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric 2.0 has just been unveiled. This is the second iteration of the Royal Enfield Himalayan electric ADV motorcycle project. The first electric Himalayan prototype was showcased last year at the EICMA. The Himalayan Electric 2.0 bears significant changes over the first bike.
Visually, the bike’s design seems to be inspired by the Himalayan 450. The windscreen, round LED headlight and tail light look similar to the one on the Himalayan 450. The bike has a similar “tank frame” as the ICE bike while the battery and motor are neatly integrated. The bike looks purposeful, blending the design of an ADV and rally bike quite well
Royal Enfield has not revealed any specifications with regards to the battery size, or motor capacity of the test bike. However, the company has stated that the motor and battery are all new. What the Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric 2.0 also gets is a new UI for the display and electronic suspension.
The test bike is also seen equipped with gold-coloured wire spoke rims, a chunky swingarm and a disc brake at the front and the rear. The riding position is tall and upright, in proper ADV fashion.
Royal Enfield says that the Himalayan Electric is still quite some time away and there will be at least two more iterations before a production bike surfaces, based on what the market demands. That said, the prospect of an electric Himalayan is quite interesting.
