Another test mule of the Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spied testing and this time, the pictures are clearer and reveal several details.
While the exact location is not clear, we are expecting the test mule was spied close to the company’s factory in Chennai. From the pictures, it is clear that the upcoming Himalayan is being built on a new platform. The most interesting aspect is the rear monoshock, making this bike the first Royal Enfield to get one. It also gets an up-swept exhaust that looks nice and goes well with the overall design. While this test mule looks like an early prototype, we might see lot of changes on the production model. The Himalayan gets a step-up seat, disc brakes at the front and rear, sculpted tank and spoked rims.
Mechanically, there is no concrete information on this bike, but rumours suggest that the Himlayan might get a 410cc single-cylinder engine that will churn out close to 30bhp of peak power. Once launched, the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be the first adventure bike developed in India for the Indian market. We are expecting this bike to debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
