We’re just a day from the official unveil of the most awaited bike of 2016 – the Royal Enfield Himalayan. While Royal Enfield made sure to keep the excitement level up through their spy shots, the company is finally going to unveil it tomorrow.
The Himalyan is the company’s first attempt at developing an adventure bike from ground up. In fact, once launched, the Himalayan will be the only adventure motorcycle manufactured in India. This means that it’ll be priced well and the Indian adventure enthusiast will finally have an affordable adventure motorcycle to opt for.
Built around a double cradle frame, the company has made sure to keep this bike as light as possible. The bike is rumoured to weigh close to 180kgs, however, we’ll wait for the official figures which’ll be revealed tomorrow. The Himalayan will be powered by a new 410cc engine, which is carburetted and is expected to churn out close to 30bhp. The Himalayan is the first Royal Enfield to get a monoshock and we think, this platform will churn out more motorcycles in future. Like we’ve mentioned before, Royal Enfield will offer a lot of accessories with the Himalayan like a jerry can and panniers to take care of the touring needs.
In terms of pricing, we’re expecting the Chennai-based company to price the Himalayan close to Rs 2 lakh. If it does, there surely will be a jump in the number of adventure tourers in India.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you live coverage from the Himalayan launch event tomorrow.
