Royal Enfield Hunter has secured the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2023. The TVS Ronin and Suzuki V-Strom SX were the first and the second runner up, respectively. Ten motorcycles made it to the jury round, which filters down to three names and only one bag in the IMOTY award. The IMOTY is the highest-value accolade a motorcycle can win in the country.
The jury for IMOTY 2023 consisted of 15 senior motorcycle journalists from various publications. Here are all the names – Pratheek Kunder from BikeWale, Rahul Ghosh and Dipayan Dutta from Auto Today, Sirish Chandran and Aatish Mishra from Evo India, Bertrand D’souza and Rohit Paradkar from Overdrive, Shivank Bhatt and Dhruv Paliwal from AutoX, Aspi Bhathena and Joshua Varghese from Bike India, Kartik Ware and Janak Sorap from Motoring World, Kranti Sambhav from Times Drive and Abhay Verma from Turbocharged.
As for the lineup of motorcycles that made it to the jury round, here’s the list – Triumph Tiger Sport 660, Suzuki V-Strom SX, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Royal Enfield Hunter, TVS Ronin, Yezdi Scrambler and Yezdi Adventure, Honda CB300F, BMW G 310 RR, and the KTM RC390. All these bikes are evaluated on various criteria like value for money, design, fuel economy, technology, and more.
The IMOTY 2023 was held at the Buddh International Circuit. And like the previous year, JK Tyre sponsored the IMOTY this year as well while Deloitte is the knowledge partner and AJAI (Automotive Journalists Association of India) is the award custodian for IMOTY 2023. The members of the agency collect the scoring sheets from the jury, tabulate the points and maintain the utmost secrecy by presenting the envelope with the winner's name only on the awards ceremony night.
The Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2023 award was received by the MD Royal Enfield, Siddhartha Lal for the Hunter 350.
