Royal Enfield has now become the fifth largest bike manufacturer in India, thanks to its brilliant sales performance in the last financial year.
Yamaha held this spot previously, however, it saw a 4.4 per cent decrease in its overall sales, resulting it slipping into sixth spot. Royal Enfield, on the other hand, sold 4,98,791 units in FY 2015-2016, which is a 53 per cent jump over its last year. The Chennai-based company was able to achieve this due to the demand for its Classic and Thunderbird range of motorcycles. The company also increased its production capacity at their Oragadam plant to meet the growing demand, wwhich also resulted in a reduction in waiting period
