- Royal Enfield brings flat track racing to India
- Goes by the name Slide School
- Training costs Rs 2500
Royal Enfield has just brought the concept of flat track racing to India by launching its own school that goes by the name Slide School.
The company has tied up with BigRock Dirtpark, India’s biggest off-road and adventure motorcycle park for this new sport. Flat tracking racing as a concept is about riding a motorcycle in a counter-clockwise direction in oval track. Motorcycles involved in this sport are usually the strip down versions of production motorcycle and doesn’t come with front brake.
Royal Enfield will be using the Himalayan but the bodywork is all different. The headlamp has been replaced with the number board. The exhaust too, has been raised and placed very close to the tail section. This Himalayan tips the scale at just 164kgs, thanks to the usage of lightweight carbon fibre seat and smaller S&S Cycles exhaust system. The bike is equipped with 18-inch wheels. The front tyre is different as well, and is now as wide as the rear tyre. This is done to get more grip from the front. Other than that, there are no mechanical changes.
Each school will last for about 3 hours with a saddle time of 2 hours. This activity will cost Rs 2500 and for that price, the riders will get training from BigRock trainers, along with the custom Himalayan, riding gear and breakfast. The bookings for this school has commenced on Royal Enfield website.
