Royal Enfield’s new Meteor 350 is the brand’s most important product of 2020 as it is based on an all-platform, which will be utilised for RE’s future products. In order to gauge its desirability in the real world, we comprehensively tested the bike and you can read our first ride review here. For now, let’s devour the visual treat of some of the best images from our review of the new Meteor 350.
The Meteor is essentially a successor to the Thunderbird and that’s evident in its overall silhouette. However, you don’t need a very keen eye to tell that this is an all-new motorcycle, thanks to a few elements which make it look distinctive.
The differences are more prominent in the top-end Supernova version which we have here. It sports a dual-tone paint scheme, 3D ‘Royal Enfield’ logo on the fuel tank, chrome-finished components and a tall windscreen.
The Meteor is aimed at riders who prefer long-distance touring on their pair of wheels. And to make cruising a comfortable affair, there’s a well-padded and spacious rider’s seat and a pillion back rest. The latter comes as a standard element only in Stellar and Supernova variants.
Modern features ware never an area of focus for Royal Enfield, but things have changed with the Meteor. It gets a Bluetooth-enabled semi-digital console with tripper navigation which does a great job at legibly showing the desired route.
As for the heart of the matter, the 348cc, air-cooled engine of the Meteor produces 20.2bhp and 27Nm. Although these figures are nearly identical to the Thunderbird, the Meteor’s new motor is significantly smoother and lower on vibes.
With forward-set footpegs, wide and pulled-back handlebar and accommodating seat, the overall ergonomics of the Meteor are comfortable. The tall windscreen also does a good job of tackling the windblast.
Underpinning the motorcycle is a new double downtube chassis which is suspended by telescopic forks and dual shock absorbers. This hardware is tuned to deliver nimble handling and a plush ride quality.
The prices of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 start at Rs 1.76 lakh and go up to Rs 1.91 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes against the likes of the HondaH’ness CB350 and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
