- Royal Enfield Meteor 350 wins with 96 points
- Total of eight contenders in 2021 jury round
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been picked as the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2021. The motorcycle secured the award with a total of 96 points.
Coming in second was the KTM 390 Adventure with 81 points. It was followed by the Hero Xtreme 160R that managed to secure 59 points. The IMOTY 2021 had five other contenders too, namely- the Bajaj Dominar 250, Honda Hornet 2.0, Hero Glamour 125, Hero Passion Pro, and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250.
Now, for those not in the know, the Indian Motorcycle of the Year Award or IMOTY is one of the most prestigious awards in the country. And like every other year, it considers the motorcycles that are assembled and manufactured in India. The jury members decide the winner based on many factors like fuel-efficiency, performance, design, safety, comfort as well as value for money.
This panel of jury members consists of top automotive journalists from the biggest print and digital publications in the country. BikeWale too was part of the jury this year represented by Editor Vikrant Singh. Other members include Aspi Bhatena, editor of Car India and Bike India; Sarmad Kadiri, executive editor at Car India and Bike India; Sirish Chandran, editorial director of Evo India and Fast Bikes India; Rahul Ghosh, associate editor, Auto Today; Dipayan Dutta, senior special correspondent, Auto Today, Pablo Chaterji, executive editor at Motoring World; Kartik Ware, managing editor at Motoring World; Jared Solomon, assistant editor at AutoX, Ravi Ved, content development editor at AutoX; and Aatish Mishra, assistant editor at Evo India. The IMOTY 2021 award ceremony was sponsored by JKTyre with the award validation by Grant Thornton Bharat.
