Royal Enfield is reportedly planning to equip its future products with the anti-lock braking system (ABS). The company is currently in talks with the technology manufacturer.
While the company didn’t reveal much, it said that was working on two new platforms that will be launched in 2016. We believe the company will start offering the ABS unit in its upcoming touring motorcycle – the Himalayan. Due to the nature of the bike, ABS makes perfect sense to compliment the overall performance, ride and handling.
It is still unclear if the current models like the Classic and the Thunderbird will get the ABS models in future. But if Royal Enfield approaches the economies of scale strategy, then we can surely see the updated models coming with ABS.
"Royal Enfield is working on two new platforms and will be coming out with new products 2016 onwards that will have global appeal. As part of our R&D process, we keep exploring and working with various partners on design and technology. We can share more details as and when we are ready to announce our new products," said a source to TOI.
