Royal Enfield motorcycles to undergo price revisions before GST

Ahead of GST being implemented effectively from 1 July 2017, Royal Enfield is considering revising prices of its product range in the country from 17 June itself. Reports indicate that the manufacturer has announced passing on GST benefits to its customers and will implement on-road price revision from tomorrow.

Under GST, a majority of two wheelers will soon attract a tax rate of 28 per cent as against the current 30 per cent. However, bikes over the 350cc segment will attract an additional cess of three per cent which takes the total tax to 31 per cent. Although the revised prices remain unannounced for now, the company officials have indicated that we can expect a drop in prices across most of the models. The Indian manufacturer sells the Thunderbird, Classic, Continental GT, Bullet and the Himalayan in the country.
