- A 14.3 per cent decline in total sales
- Records 16 per cent dip in Indian market
Royal Enfield has recorded a 14.3 per cent decline in its total sales numbers for February 2019 as compared to February 2018 wherin it had sold 71,354 units. In comparison, Royal Enfield sold 62,630 motorcycles last month.
In the Indian market in particular, the brand's sales witnessed a 16 per cent decrease. Royal Enfield's numbers stood at 60,066 units for last month as against the 71,354 motorcycles sold in February 2018. This is the fourth consecutive month where the manufacturer has seen a drop in sales. Royal Enfield attributes it to the rising cost of manufacturing along with increased insurance requirements and safety regulations which also culminated to a hike in price.
However, we expect this to be a temporary effect and the sales numbers for the company to increase in the next two to three months. Royal Enfield recently equipped the standard version of the Classic 350 with a dual-channel ABS and priced it at Rs 1.53 lakhs which only leaves the Bullet 350 without the safety feature.
